Youth Integration Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Bathurst

The Multicultural Association, Chaleur Region is a non-profit organization that promotes the cultural development of our region and assists in the settlement and integration of our newcomers.

The MACR aims to:

• Facilitate contact and communication between the various ethnic and cultural groups in the region.

• Promote harmonious relations between cultural groups and individuals.

• Provide information and assistance to newcomers to the community.

• To increase public awareness and promote acceptance of multiculturalism.

Nature of work:

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Youth Integration Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will promote and deliver a welcoming and integration process for newcomer youth, develop, and implement various activities and awareness programs related to cultural diversity, and maintain positive relationships with schools, youth groups, and other community organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welcoming and Integration:

o Develop and manage comprehensive orientation programs for newcomer youth.

o Establish and oversee mentorship programs to support newcomer youth in their integration process.

2. Program Development and Implementation:

o Design and execute intercultural events, workshops, and seminars that celebrate and promote cultural diversity.

o Organize storytelling and art projects to highlight the unique perspectives and experiences of newcomer youth.

3. Community and School Engagement:

o Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools to integrate cultural diversity into their curricula and extracurricular activities.

o Collaborate with local youth groups to create inclusive activities that foster mutual respect and understanding.

o Conduct community outreach to promote awareness of newcomer youth programs and encourage participation.

4. Relationship Management:

o Ensure regular communication with schools, youth groups, and community organizations to coordinate efforts and share resources.

o Implement feedback mechanisms to continuously improve programs based on community needs and suggestions.

o Recognize and celebrate the contributions of partner organizations in supporting newcomer youth and promoting cultural diversity.

Qualifications:

• Post secondary education in Social Work, Education, Community Development, or a related field.

• Proven experience in program development, community engagement, and working with youth.

• Strong understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, etc)

• Flexible work schedules (some evenings or weekends)

• Must be fluently bilingual (French and English)
