Job Type: Full-time

The Multicultural Association, Chaleur Region is a non-profit organization that promotes the cultural development of our region and assists in the settlement and integration of our newcomers.

The MACR aims to:

• Facilitate contact and communication between the various ethnic and cultural groups in the region.

• Promote harmonious relations between cultural groups and individuals.

• Provide information and assistance to newcomers to the community.

• To increase public awareness and promote acceptance of multiculturalism.

Nature of work:

The Multicultural Association of the Chaleur Region is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Case Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for welcoming refugees and providing individual interventions, group workshops, and various supports to help them establish and integrate into the community. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up temporary housing, teaching basic life skills, and providing overall support during their transition to settlement services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Individual Interventions:

o Welcome refugees and assess their individual needs.

o Provide personalized support for setting up temporary housing.

o Teach basic life skills, such as budgeting, using public transportation, and accessing local services.

2. Group Workshops:

o Organize and facilitate group workshops on various topics relevant to refugees, including Canadian culture, rights and responsibilities, and practical skills.

3. Transition Support:

o Assist refugees with settlement services and community resources.

o Coordinate with other service organizations to ensure comprehensive and integrated support.

o Provide ongoing assistance for emerging needs during the transition.

4. Documentation and Follow-up:

o Maintain detailed records of individual interventions and group workshops.

o Prepare regular reports on progress and challenges encountered.

Qualifications:

• Education in social work, psychology, social services, or a related field.

• Proven experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

• Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.

• Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.

• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

• Flexible work schedule, including evenings or weekends.

• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
