Job Type: Full-time

Location: Bathurst

The Multicultural Association, Chaleur Region is a non-profit organization that promotes the cultural development of our region and assists in the settlement and integration of our newcomers.

The MACR aims to:

• Facilitate contact and communication between the various ethnic and cultural groups in the region.

• Promote harmonious relations between cultural groups and individuals.

• Provide information and assistance to newcomers to the community.

• To increase public awareness and promote acceptance of multiculturalism.

Nature of work: The Multicultural Association of the Chaleur Region is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing activities for newcomer families as part of their integration into Canada. These activities will expose them to local services, arts and culture, as well as sports and recreation. In addition to planning these activities, the Project Coordinator will also have their workstation at our reception at the office, greeting guests when not attending activities and events.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Activity Planning and Coordination:

o Organize and plan activities that introduce newcomer families to local services, arts and culture, sports, and recreation.

o Develop a calendar of activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of newcomer families.

o Coordinate logistics for each activity, including venue booking, transportation, and materials needed.

2. Event Coordination:

o Plan and coordinate larger multicultural events, including the annual International Festival.

o Collaborate with community partners, vendors, and volunteers to ensure successful event execution.

o Manage event promotion, registration, and on-site coordination.

3. Community Engagement:

o Build and maintain relationships with local service providers, cultural organizations, and recreational facilities.

o Engage newcomer families through outreach and communication to encourage participation in activities.

o Gather feedback from participants to continuously improve programming.

4. Administrative Duties:

o Assume reception duties when not at events or activities.

o Maintain detailed records of activities, participants, and feedback.

o Assist in preparing reports and grant applications related to project activities.

Qualifications:

• Training in event management, community development, social work, or a related field.

• Proven experience in planning and coordinating events or activities.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and social media platforms.

• Flexibility in work schedules, including some evenings and weekends.

• Fluency in both French and English, both spoken and written.
