The Multicultural Association, Chaleur Region is a non-profit organization that promotes the cultural development of our region and assists in the settlement and integration of our newcomers.

The MACR aims to:

• Facilitate contact and communication between the various ethnic and cultural groups in the region.

• Promote harmonious relations between cultural groups and individuals.

• Provide information and assistance to newcomers to the community.

• To increase public awareness and promote acceptance of multiculturalism.

Nature of work:

The Multicultural Association of the Chaleur Region is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Case Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting refugees following their four-to-six-week resettlement program (RAP). After RAP, refugees are transitioned into the Client Support Services (CSS) Program, where they typically remain between 12 and 24 months. The objective of the CSS program is to provide an intensive and systematic client-centered case management approach that will provide GARs with a warm, welcoming and safe environment; the essential supports for a more positive settlement experience in Canada and to empower GARs to become independent.

Specifically, the CSS Program activities reflect the following objectives:

1. Provide the core elements of a holistic case management approach with refugees in a desk free and mobile fashion to where clients are located

2. Improve refugee access to community services in a manner that does not overlap with settlement funded services/programs

3. Engage community agencies in providing support services to refugees

4. Monitor and evaluate program activities against specific program goals and refine these activities/models if needed

5. Document and monitor the provision of long-term settlement support to refugees including data collection, evaluation of activities and quality assurance practices

6. Participate in a national framework for reporting on refugees that is distributed to the government and other external stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Education in social work, psychology, social services, or a related field.

• Proven experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

• Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.

• Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset.

• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

• Flexible work schedule, including evenings or weekends.

• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
